An EV is a motor vehicle, but its battery, charging equipment and repair network create questions that a generic “comprehensive” label does not answer.
Ask the insurer in writing
- How is the vehicle’s insured value determined?
- Is accidental battery damage included?
- Are electrical failure, degradation and manufacturer defects excluded?
- Is charging equipment covered, and only while attached to the vehicle?
- Are towing and specialist repair costs included?
- What depreciation applies to the battery and electronic components?
- Are water ingress, fire and natural hazards addressed in the wording?
Compare equivalent proposals
Use the same vehicle value, deductible, permitted use and requested extensions. Do not rely on a petrol-vehicle estimate or an unsourced EV discount. Final terms must come from the insurer’s current proposal and wording.
